lang-uk is an informal group of enthusiasts who aim to improve computational processing of Ukrainian texts. The statement below describes the principles of our work.
-
Volunteering
Members of the group are volunteers. For some projects, though, a reward is possible but should be discussed in advance.
-
Open and public results
Results of the group are the following:
- open data,
- code of the tools for processing data,
- machine-learned models,
- publications,
- etc.
All these artifacts should be published in the central repository of the group and should have a licence to work with (e.g., MIT, BSD, Creative Commons, Apache). By using the open specifications, standard and generally accepted formats of data and models encoding, we try to ensure that the programs built on these artifacts are interoperable.
-
Meritocracy and democracy
In different projects the decisions are made by those people who take the responsibility for their implementation. At the same time, the group is a platform for transparent discussion as well as collective decision-making about fundamental work directions and approaches for launching specific projects.
